What is PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports)?
Harpeth Valley’s PBIS program is focused on teaching, modeling, and acknowledging the following behavioral expectations:
Be safe.
Act responsibly,
Respectfully, and
Kind.
How are students recognized for exhibiting Positive Behaviors?
All school personnel can give a BARK Ticket when they observe a student or group of students being safe, acting responsibly, respectfully, or kind. The ticket is paired the student specific feedback as to why they are receiving the ticket, such as, “I saw you being kind when you helped your classmate.” Students can deposit their tickets in bins that are located in their classrooms. Classroom tickets will be tallied for classroom monthly rewards, and individual student tickets will be drawn for incentives and rewards. Each month a student will be selected as “Top Dog” from their class for exhibiting BARKing behaviors.
Harpeth Valley Elementary was recognized by the Tennessee Department of Education and Vanderbilt University as a Bronze Level PBIS Tier I Implementation School.
